Update: August 15th 2012
New Marine Facility on Great Abaco – now open!
The Schooner Bay Harbour on the Atlantic side of Great Abaco (about midway between Cherokee and Hole In the Wall) is now open with limited facilities. We are informed that wooden jetties are built and the harbour entrance and approach channel is now marked with buoys – See WL plan B222. Fuel, water and power will soon be available.
Restaurants will open in the fall. Contact the Harbour Master, Glen email – email@example.com, for updated info and berth availability.
Rum Cay, Pt Sumner Marina – The marina took a hard hit from Hurricane Irene. Although the jetties and sheltering vessels stayed safe, the entrance channel near the fuel jetty has silted up and is narrower. During our visit in June 2012, dredging to restore the original width and depth were about to start.
